In our last article we’ve covered one of the major factors leading to victory in effective weight loss. If you haven’t read that article you can take a look at it here: Effective weight loss: Be consistent with your diet.
Being consistent with your diet plan is crucial in shedding fat but what kind of a diet you should pick and stick with it?
According to a scientific review in April’s Nutrition Reviews, a vegetarian diet is highly effective for weight loss. Vegetarian populations tend to be slimmer than meat-eaters as well as experiencing lower rates of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other life-threatening conditions linked to overweight and obesity. The new review, compiling data from 87 previous studies, shows the weight-loss effect does not depend on exercise or calorie-counting, and it occurs at a rate of approximately 1 pound per week.
In the previous article, we’ve already mentioned that you need to choose a healthy diet plan which is both good for your health and which shows its results over a period of time instead of causing you to shed fat too quickly. If you are to follow our advice, a vegetarian diet is just made for you in losing weight without compromising your health.
Usually, a vegetarian diet is a way of life rather than being a temporary plan to lose weight. In the new review, it’s been found that the body weight of both male and female vegetarians is, on average, 3 percent to 20 percent lower than that of meat-eaters. Vegetarian and vegan diets have also been put to the test in clinical studies, as the review notes. The best of these clinical studies isolated the effects of diet by keeping exercise constant. The researchers found that a low-fat vegan diet leads to weight loss of about 1 pound per week, even without additional exercise or limits on portion sizes, calories, or carbohydrates.
The best part of a vegetarian diet is you can stop counting the calories and eat until you are full. According to the researchers a vegan diet causes an increased calorie burn after meals, meaning plant-based foods are being used more efficiently as fuel for the body, as opposed to being stored as fat. In simple words, vegetarian foods are easily turned into heat instead of fat inside the body.
There are multiple cultures all over the world who rely on fresh fruits and vegetables to keep a healthy life without even touching the meat. Many Asian societies have been following a vegetarian diet for centuries and obesity doesn’t seem to be a problem in those societies.
Keeping a vegetarian diet doesn’t necessarily mean that all you have to eat is fruits and vegetables. With the addition of various seafoods you can prepare tasty meals for yourself without compromising your diet plan.
If you’ve never thought of giving up on meat, perhaps it’s time to try a vegetarian diet now. It will sure produce positive effects on your weight loss program.
